NEEMF History
Founded in 1982 by a group of enthusiastic volunteers, NEEMF was started partly in order to support the York Early Music Festival (set up some four years earlier) and also to arrange workshops throughout the year. NEEMF based its constitution on that of the North West Early Music Forum - the first of the early music forums to be set up. Some of the workshops in those early years were run by such well known figures as Peter Syrus, Anthony Rooley, Emma Kirkby and Andrew Parrott.
